چکیده
Abstract AIMS Evaluate how sensori-motor (SM) testing is performed in awake craniotomy (AC) the literature. Compare SM methods and their related outcomes. METHOD Literature search from 1995- 2019 OVID Medline, Embase, PsychInfo, CINAHL Web Of Science using all permutations of MESH terms “brain tumour” “awake craniotomy” “sensory” “motor” “testing”. 11671 articles were screened 28 included based on suffcient detail tasks intraoperative processes that would allow for evaluation. RESULTS used to preserve function AC when tumours involve or neighbour eloquent cortical structures sub serving movement. It also identify subcortical tracts such as corticospinal frontostriatal, well negative motor network. There broad variation conducted different centres, with no standardisation. The most common strategies were: •Simple gross movement contralateral limbs (n= 17) e.g., hand open/closing. •Functional (n=5) grasping object •Standardised tests 3) including Hand Manipulation Task Sensory-Motor Profile •Patient at rest observed positive responses patient reported sensory changes 2). CONCLUSIONS Multiple intra-operative exist preservation craniotomy. Benefits over-arching strategy frequently demonstrated. However, comparison optimisation between hindered by heterogenous study objectives outcomes reported. A core outcome set may be useful standardise, optimise compare so maximal benefit functional can achieved.

Evaluation of Language Function under Awake Craniotomy
Awake craniotomy is the only established way to assess patients' language functions intraoperatively and to contribute to their preservation, if necessary. Recent guidelines have enabled the approach to be used widely, effectively, and safely. Non-invasive brain functional imaging techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging, have been used preoperati...

متن کامل[Dexmedetomidine for neurocognitive testing in awake craniotomy: case report.].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Tumor resections in the speech areas of the brain are more safely done using cognitive tests to determine their exact location. Patients must be awake, comfortable, and cooperative for the precise identification of the areas to be preserved. The objective of this report is to present a surgical procedure done with the patient awake, without endotracheal intubation, usi...
متن کاملAnaesthesia for awake craniotomy--evolution of a technique that facilitates awake neurological testing.
BACKGROUND There is an increasing trend towards performing craniotomy awake. The challenge for the anaesthetist is to provide adequate analgesia and sedation, haemodynamic stability, and a safe airway, with an awake, cooperative patient for neurological testing. METHODS The records of all patients who had awake craniotomy at our institution were reviewed. Patients were divided into three grou...

arbitrary at stake, but also the functional aspect of the device handled. In conclusion, the results showed that interaction will be more relevant when the associated sound will establish an analogy with the action that is the cause, and that this action is consistent with the possible manipulation of object.
